About these terms
碼庫科技有限公司 (Marku), a company registered in Taiwan ("we", "us"), provides Marku: the Marku platform at marku.com.tw and the sites you sign in to with your Marku account, FireFrame (fire-frame.com) and Meowgood (meowgood.com), together with their content, tools and membership plans (together, the "Services").
By creating a Marku account, subscribing to or using the Services, you agree to these terms and to the documents they include: the Refund Policy, the Privacy Policy, the plan details on the plans page when you subscribe, and the additional terms, usage notes and rules of each site, app and tool. Where the additional terms for a service say something different, they govern for that service; where any other document differs from these terms, these terms prevail. If you do not agree, do not use the Services. These terms apply to users everywhere in the world.

Your account
- Signing in with your Google account creates your Marku account, which you use on the Marku platform and our sites. The information you give us must be true and accurate.
- You must be at least 13 years old. By using the Services, you represent that you are an adult, or that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian.
- Your account is for you only. You may not transfer, lend, sell or share it. You are responsible for keeping the Google account you sign in with secure, and everything done through your account is treated as done by you, and is your responsibility.
- Notices we send to your account's email address are treated as delivered when sent, and notices posted on the Services are treated as given when posted.
Plans, payment and automatic renewal
- Plans, features, weekly allowances and prices are as shown on the plans page at the time. What a plan includes (for example, no ads, or chapters that are free for Plus members) can only be used while the plan is active.
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until you cancel. Your billing date is shown on the confirmation screen before payment and under "My subscription" in your member center. You authorise us and our payment providers to charge your payment method at the plan's price for each period.
- Plans priced in New Taiwan dollars are charged by recurring credit card payment through NewebPay, tax included, and a Taiwan electronic invoice is sent to your email after each charge. Plans priced in US dollars are charged through a PayPal subscription; the receiving PayPal account is named "Marku". Currency conversion, fees and taxes follow the law and the payment provider's rules.
- You enter your card number on the payment provider's page; we never handle or store it. We are not responsible for errors, delays or refusals by payment providers.
- If a renewal payment fails, the payment provider retries under its own rules. We email you to say how long your paid plan stays active; if no payment has succeeded by then, your account moves to the Free plan.
- You can cancel anytime under "My subscription". After you cancel, there are no further charges and you keep the current period until it ends. Upgrades take effect immediately, and the amount due is shown on the confirmation screen before you upgrade; downgrades take effect from the next period.
- Fees paid are non-refundable, except in the cases listed in the Refund Policy and where the law requires a refund. Before payment, you must agree to "Your consent before payment" in the Refund Policy: your plan starts immediately after payment, and once you use any of the period's weekly allowance, you waive any right to cancel or withdraw that the law where you live may give you.
Weekly allowance and Bricks
- The weekly allowance is a usage allowance that comes with your plan. It refills every 7 days, and unused allowance does not carry over. How much each use takes is shown in that tool.
- Bricks are rewards we give at our discretion (for example as compensation or in a promotion). They can only be received, not bought. Bricks are valid for 12 months from when they are added, or until any different expiry stated when they are given, and those expiring soonest are used first.
- The weekly allowance and Bricks are not points, stored value, gift certificates or currency, and have no cash value. They cannot be bought, transferred, given away, refunded or exchanged for cash, and they are voided if you delete your account, if your account is terminated, or if the Services end.
- We may change at any time the size of the weekly allowance, how it refills and how much each use takes, as well as the number, use and validity of Bricks, or stop offering Bricks. We may correct or take back any allowance or Bricks obtained through error, a system problem or improper means.
Content and licences
- The Services and their content (including stories, horoscopes, data, interfaces, software and trademarks) belong to us or to those who license them to us. You receive only a limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to read and use them within the Services for personal, non-commercial purposes. Otherwise, you may not copy, repost, distribute, make available, adapt, or use them to train AI models.
- Unlocking lets you read that piece of content while we provide the Services, without using allowance again when you come back to it. Content may become unavailable because it is taken down, a licence ends or the Services change; we do not guarantee that it will always be available, and whether and how to compensate you is our decision.
- Content you give us or create in the Services (including emails and feedback you send us): any rights you hold under the law remain yours, and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, adapt (for example, change its format), publicly display and transmit it, and to sublicense these rights to those who help us provide the Services, to the extent needed to provide, maintain, protect, promote and improve the Services. You promise that you have the right to grant this licence and that the content does not infringe anyone's rights or break the law. We may remove any content without notice.
- We may use any feedback and suggestions you give us freely, without payment or attribution.
Storage and backups
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for storing or preserving your account information, the content you provide or create, your unlock and usage history, or the records of your weekly allowance and Bricks. These may be lost, damaged or deleted because of system failures, maintenance, security incidents, problems with third-party services or other causes. Please keep your own backups of anything important; we are not responsible for any loss, damage or deletion.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- break the law, or infringe anyone's rights, including copyright, trademarks and privacy;
- access, download, scrape or operate the Services with scripts, bots or other automated means, or get around sign-in, allowance, payment or other limits;
- reverse engineer, interfere with or damage the Services or our systems, or probe them for vulnerabilities;
- use someone else's account or payment method, or obtain allowance, Bricks or paid content by improper means;
- resell, trade or give others your account, allowance, Bricks or paid content;
- use the Services or their content to build a competing product or to train AI models.
We may set usage limits, queue requests at busy times, and monitor how the Services are used in order to enforce these terms and the law.
Suspension, termination and deleting your account
- We may suspend or terminate your account, your plan, or all or part of your use of the Services at any time and without prior notice, including if you breach these terms or the law, if there is a problem with or dispute over a payment, for security or fraud prevention, if the law or an authority requires it, or in any other case we consider necessary.
- If we suspend or terminate because you breached these terms or the law, or because of a payment dispute, fees paid are not refunded. If we terminate your paid plan for any other reason, the paid but unprovided part of the period is handled under the Refund Policy.
- You can delete your account at any time in your account settings on the Marku platform. Deletion removes your account information, weekly allowance, Bricks and unlock history permanently. Deleting your account does not give you a refund; if you qualify under the Refund Policy, request it before you delete.
- After termination or deletion, the provisions that by their nature should continue remain in effect, including those on payment, content and licences, storage and backups, disclaimers, liability, your indemnity and the general terms.
Changes to the Services and these terms
- We may at any time add, change, suspend or discontinue the Services or any feature, content, plan, price or allowance, and we may change these terms. Changes take effect once posted on the Services or notified to you, or on the effective date stated.
- For a price increase on a paid plan, we give at least 30 days' notice, and the new price applies from your first billing date at least 30 days after the notice. If you do not agree, you can cancel before then. If a payment provider requires your separate approval of the new price and you do not give it, your paid plan ends at the end of the last period before the new price applies.
- If you keep using the Services after a change takes effect, you accept the change.
Disclaimers
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Services, their content and AI-generated content are provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, security, uninterrupted or error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
- Some content in the Services is generated or assisted by AI (for example, horoscopes and stories) and may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. Content in the Services is for reference and entertainment only and is not investment, medical, legal or other professional advice; decisions you make based on it are your own responsibility.
- Third-party services, content and links (for example Google, PayPal, NewebPay and Shopee) are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
- You use the Services at your own risk.
Liability
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our affiliates, directors, employees, agents and partners are not liable for any damages arising out of or relating to the Services, their content or these terms, including direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special and punitive damages, and loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, even if we were told such damages were possible.
- If, under the law that applies to you, any part of the exclusion above cannot apply, our total liability for that part is limited to the fees you actually paid us in the one month before the event giving rise to the liability.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by natural disasters, war, terrorism, epidemics, government action, power outages, failures of the internet or of third-party services, or anything else beyond our reasonable control.
Your indemnity
- If you breach these terms or the law, use the Services unlawfully or improperly, or such conduct happens through your account, you will compensate us and our affiliates, directors, employees, agents and partners for, and hold us harmless from, any resulting loss, damage, cost or liability, including:
- claims and demands made against us by third parties (including other users and rights holders);
- fines or penalties imposed on us by authorities;
- deductions, fines, fees or restrictions imposed on us by payment providers, app stores or platforms as a result, such as chargeback fees or action taken by PayPal or NewebPay;
- the lawyers' fees, litigation costs and other costs we incur in dealing with the matter.
- We may choose our own lawyers to take part in or lead the handling of any such matter, and you must cooperate.
- To the extent permitted by law, we may set off these amounts against your weekly allowance, your Bricks and any amount we owe you, including any refund due to you.
General terms
- Assignment: You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms. We may transfer these terms and our rights and obligations under them to an affiliate, or to whoever takes over the Services in a merger, acquisition or transfer of business, without your further consent.
- Severability: If any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the invalid part applies, to the extent permitted by law, in the way closest to its original intent.
- No waiver: If we do not exercise a right, or delay in exercising it, we do not waive it.
- Entire agreement: These terms and the documents they include are the entire agreement between you and us, and replace all earlier agreements and statements. Nothing our staff say, orally or in writing, changes these terms.
- Language: These terms are available in Chinese and English. If the two differ, the Chinese version prevails to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and the Services are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Taiwan Tainan District Court has exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance over any dispute arising from these terms or the Services. These terms do not affect any rights that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be excluded by contract.
